The 1901 Curved Dash Runabout permanently displayed in Oldsmar City Hall and the focal point on the City’s seal, is with respect to Oldsmar’s founder, Ransom Eli Olds, the tireless American automotive inventor whose Olds Motor Works company in Lansing, Michigan grew to become Oldsmobile. The fame and fortune Oldsmobile brought R.E. Olds in the early 20th Century drove him to other pursuits and interests, one of which was purchasing land on the northern tip of Tampa Bay in 1913 for creating the City of Oldsmar. Today, Oldsmar is a mix of small town southern charm and a vibrant commerce center such as RE Olds embarked on almost a century ago.
Oldsmar is located at the northern tip of Tampa Bay, strategically situated at the northeastern boundary of the Pinellas County peninsula; the only natural land link connecting Pinellas County with Hillsborough County and Central Florida. Oldsmar is positioned between the “best of two worlds”….metropolitan Tampa and the famed white sand Gulf beaches of Pinellas County as well as the beautiful cities of Clearwater and St. Petersburg.
