The Oldsmar Building Department now requires that the "Electronic Version" of plans being submitted include ALL documents being submitted.
This would include applications along with all supporting documents such as Site Plans/Surveys, Energy Calcs, Product Approvals, etc.
A CD version of all documents shall be submitted when plans are larger than 11 x 17 and must be in a .pdf format.
EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2014 THE BUILDING PERMIT FEES WILL BE INCREASED.
Attention all homeowners and contractors working within the city limits of Oldsmar!
The New Florida Building, Accessibility, Fuel Gas, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy Conservation, Residential, and Test Protocol Code, 2010 Edition will be enforced March 15, 2012.
All construction documents submitted on March 15, 2012 for permitting shall comply with the new codes.

ISO Building Code Effectiveness Grading Classification
Good News! The CIty of Oldsmar ISO Building Code Effectivenes Grading Classification is 3 for one and two family residential property and 3 for commercial and industrial property. Insurers can use the Building Code Effectiveness Grading Classificaion as a basis for applying credits to individual property insurance policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Building Division is responsible for ensuring that new development and modifications to existing development in Oldsmar is completed in compliance with State, County, City and local laws and codes.
The Building Division provides technical information to citizens, contractors and developers and performs the following services;
- Codes and Ordinances (City and State)
- Issues Permits
- Reviews Plans
- Inspects all projects that require a permit

The City of Oldsmar has an agreement with Pinellas County Building Department to perform all building inspections and plan reviews, operating as the Building Official for the City. In addition, three days a week, a Pinellas County Inspector is located in the Building Division of the Planning and Redevelopment Department to assist anyone with building questions, review plans and other building related items. All permit and plan applications are submitted and issued from the City of Oldmsar building division, located in City Hall and all inspection scheduling is done at the City of Oldsmar.
