Oldsmar Sports Complex Field Renovations

oldsmar sports complex

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Since opening, the playing fields at the Oldsmar Sports Complex have served tens of thousands of athletes participating in baseball and softball activities.  Over time, the fields have shown wear and have experienced drainage issues that interrupt the consistency of play by Oldsmar Little League and other user groups.

The renovation of the fields will consist of scraping of the existing sod, laser grading of the subsurface and clay for proper drainage, and the reinstallation of new sod.  This renovation will enhance the facility and provide a safe and consistent playing surface for youth and adult players to practice and play.

The City of Oldsmar was awarded a $200,000 matching grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Recreation Development and Assistance Program in 2020. This grant, along with the City's $200,000 matching contribution, funds the renovation of the baseball/softball portion of the complex, replacement of the scoreboards, minor renovations to the restrooms & concession area, and upgrades to storage sheds.
