Apply for an Event Permit
Is your business or organization wanting to host an event in Oldsmar? Persons and/or organizations who wish to conduct an event in the City of Oldsmar must review the Event Policies & Procedures Guide and submit a completed Event Application to the Oldsmar Leisure Services Department. For more information please contact: cbeil@myoldsmar.com
In order to properly review an event application, the City of Oldsmar requires adequate time to determine if the event is feasible considering all logistics and details including the size and scope of the event, traffic and pedestrian safety, security, and any other related concerns. Submission of an application does NOT guarantee approval. Do not publicize your event until approval has been confirmed. If your event is approved, your confirmation will be in the form of an Event Agreement issued to the applicant. Download the Event Policies & Procedures Manual for more information, deadline dates, fees, and other rules and guidelines.
During designated Special Events hosted at R.E. Olds Park, the City of Oldsmar or the hosting organization may provide a Shuttle Service for attendees from the Oldsmar Public Library, located at 400 St. Petersburg Drive East.
Please note that additional street parking will be permitted IN CLOSED BIKE LANES along BAYVIEW Blvd. and PARK Blvd. Please remember that parking in the medians is ILLEGAL along Shore Drive per Florida Statute 316.1945.
Parking on medians is not permitted due to the following:
- The medians were not designed or intended to serve parking.
- There is no access from a parked car in the median to a sidewalk that takes pedestrians to the intersection for a safe crossing.
- There is diminished visibility for both pedestrians and drivers because of the parked cars and roadway environment.
- There is not adequate lighting (because medians were not made to be a parking lot).
- During special events, the driver is often focused on other factors (such as finding parking), and pedestrians are eager to get to the event (especially children).
Please find 2020 pedestrian fatality statistics here. https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/813310

PARKING OPTIONS
Here are some parking options for designated Special Events at R.E. Olds Park. Street parking will also be permitted along portions of Park Blvd, Bayview Blvd, and Shore Drive E & W in the bike lanes (which will be closed). Just a reminder - no parking on medians. Parking on the medians is no longer permitted as the City can not ensure a safe path of travel from a parked vehicle on a median to a crosswalk.
