What is the hardness of the water?: The City of Oldsmar water is much softer than water that was previously purchased from Pinellas County. Hardness levels range between 30-40 milligrams per liter (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm). This is equivalent to 3-4 grains per gallon.

1. What is the hardness of the water?: The City of Oldsmar water is much softer than water that was previously purchased from Pinellas County. Hardness levels range between 30-40 milligrams per liter (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm). This is equivalent to 3-4 grains per gallon.

2. Do I still need a water softener?: Having a water softener is a personal preference and is up to the individual. You may need to adjust your water softener to the current hardness levels.
